PANAJI: The Goa State Election Commission has initiated the process of delimiting constituencies for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections in North and South Goa districts.
In an order issued by Commissioner Daulat Hawaldar (IAS Retd.), the state has been divided into 25 single-member constituencies each in North and South Goa, making a total of 50 constituencies.
To oversee the process, the respective District Collectors have been appointed as Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), while Mamlatdars of the respective talukas will function as Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs).
The commission has directed that the delimitation exercise be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 and the Goa Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat (Election Procedure) Rules, 1996.
The electoral roll of the Goa Legislative Assembly, updated up to 1st January 2025, will serve as the basis for preparing the constituency boundaries. Officials have been asked to ensure geographical contiguity while preparing constituency maps.
The draft delimitation proposals along with constituency-wise maps must be submitted to the Commission by September 11, 2025.
Public suggestions on the delimitation process have been invited via email at dir-gpps.goa@nic.in.
