PANAJI: State Election Commission (SEC) today said it will monitor Tika Utsav ( vaccine festival) to be held till April 21 to ensure it is conducted in apolitical manner. SEC also has banned political patronage in the festival.
The State Election Commission has granted permission to conduct covid vaccination/ Tika Utsav’ as per GOI guidelines in the State of Goa, in municipal areas where elections are scheduled, since 11″ to 14th April 2021 and as per the request of the Director of Health Services to continue the covid vaccination/ Tika Utsav’ till 21″ April 2021 upto 5.00 p.m.
The Commission granted the permission subject to that, there shall not be any political patronage at the venue of covid vaccination and there should not be any advertisement showcasing the achievements of any candidate or any political functionaries/political parties and no impression should be given or allowed to be created that such welfare measures or works are being undertaken by the Government to influence the voters.
The Commission will monitor that the programme shall be in apolitical manner and any leaflets or banners or appeals in social media of any programme by candidates, party functionaries, shall be strictly prohibited.
The Commission further instructed both the District Collectors & Municipal Council Election Officer/ Returning Officers for General Election to Municipal Council of Mapusa/ Mormugao/ Margao/Sanguem Quepem and General Observers to report any violations on the covid vaccination/ Tika Utsav’ programme and violations if any, are reported the programme to be suspended immediately after duly examining the violations reported.
