VASCO: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho says that Vaddem Lake’s second phase will improve the lake further with tidal waves.
“I will get new estimates for the project,” he said.
Dabolim MLA and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said that Vaddem Lake’s second phase work would be taken up soon. Fresh estimate for the project work will be prepared which is further improve the Vaddem lake’ he said.
Godinho said that during the summer season, some dead fishes were floating in the lake; this happens due to the formation of gases and some people releasing sewage into the lake.
He further said that after the second phase of work at this lake, there would be an improvement. The tidal waves will ease the flow of water in this lake, and there won’t be any problem related to this lake,” Godinho added.
It may be recalled that the Vaddem lake has remained surrounded by controversies, be it related to its ownership or its cleanliness. The Vaddem lake is the place where the Ganesh idol immersion takes place annually. The state govt developed this lake by spending crores of rupees. But recently, it was infested with moss and hyacinth. The locals also complained about the foul smell, but later the moss and hyacinth were cleared by putting weed removal machinery.
