ANJUNA: Police have registered a case against a local resident, Deryl D’Souza, after a 73-year-old woman and her husband were allegedly abused and assaulted at Gauvaddi, Anjuna, on November 4.
According to police, the incident occurred around 1:15 pm when the accused, accompanied by his wife, allegedly confronted complainant Surangi Mandrekar and her husband, hurled filthy abuses at them, and later physically attacked the couple.
D’Souza is alleged to have pushed Surangi’s husband, Sajjan Mandrekar, to the ground and kicked him, before slapping and pushing the complainant, thereby outraging her modesty in public.
Anjuna Police have registered the offence under Sections 352, 115(2), 74 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
