PANJIM: Claiming that COVID hospital in Margao is overburdened, The Goa Forward Party (GFP) today has demanded that state government should set up a dedicated COVID-19 hospital in North Goa with sufficient facilities to treat patients with Co-morbid conditions.
Addressing the media GFP Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaoncar said that the state government had failed on the promises made of setting up dedicated covid hospitals in North and South Goa.
“It has been six months now that both Chief Minister and Health Minister had promised a 1000 bedded dedicated hospital for North Goa. At present there are only covid care centres and no dedicated hospital.” said Salgaoncar
He further said that the virus is amplifying in Goa and that the 220 bedded ESI hospital in Margao is full.
“I don’t know why the government is waiting for the cases to rise and then set up instead they should be doing it now. At present patients are transferred from North to South Goa ESI hospital.” He said
The former ports minister claimed that ESI hospital does not have the required machinery and facilities required to treat co-morbid conditions.
“We havd been receiving multiple complaints regarding the facilities at the ESI hospital in Margao.” the MLA said
Meanwhile, Jayesh demanded for a full fledged covid hospital in North Goa with adequate facilities for treating patients with co-morbid conditions.
