PANAJI: In a shocking incident early Sunday morning, two groups clashed violently at the entrance of the Panaji Police Station, leading to the arrest of seven individuals involved in the brawl.
The incident took place on October 26, 2025, around 6:15 a.m., when the accused from Ramnagar (Alto Betim) and Chimbel-Bambolim areas began abusing and assaulting each other in public view.
According to the complaint lodged by Head Constable Satish Maje (45) of Panaji Police Station, one group comprised Devu Kawas (52), his wife Jyoti (48), daughter Roshni (30), and relative Sohil (48), all residents of Ramnagar, Alto Betim.
The opposing group included Imran Kaburgi (23), Yakub Wallikar (38), and Mubarak Bhandari (35), hailing from Indiranagar, Chimbel, and Bambolim respectively.
Despite repeated intervention by the police personnel on duty, both sides continued to exchange punches, kicks, and abuses, causing chaos and disturbing public order at the police station premises.
During the scuffle, Devu Kawas allegedly used an iron knuckle duster to assault Yakub Wallikar, while another accused reportedly used pepper spray, escalating the fight. As a result, several individuals sustained injuries, and Yakub Wallikar suffered fractures to his left leg and hand.
Following the incident, Panaji Police registered Crime No. 147/2025 under Sections 194(2), 115(2), 117(2), 118(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.
All seven accused have been arrested, and further investigation is underway, officials confirmed.
