AROSSIM: An alleged attempt to block the access road leading to a hotel project at Arossim by constructing an illegal wall on a public road has led to the registration of an offence by Verna police.
As per the complaint filed by Bernard Dias, a resident of Arossim, the incident occurred between 08/02/2026 and 10/02/2026 after 20.00 hrs. The accused persons — Jose Joaquim Ferandes, Simao D’Silva, Darick Azavedo, Macklin Rodrigues, Alex Azavedo, Benny D’Silva and some unknown individuals — allegedly formed an unlawful assembly with the common object of obstructing and blocking the access road to the complainant’s hotel project.
The complaint states that the accused constructed an illegal wall on the public road, thereby causing unauthorised damage and alteration to public property. It is further alleged that when the complainant’s staff and workers objected to the construction activity, the accused abused them in filthy language and criminally intimidated them with threats of dire consequences, including threats to kill.
Verna police have registered an offence under Sections 189(2), 352, 351(3) read with 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar of Verna Police Station under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
