Team Goemkarponn
PANAJI: In a striking political turn, seven members who once served in Digambar Kamat’s Congress-led cabinet are now part of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s government, giving the veteran Margao MLA a strong presence within the ruling dispensation.
With Kamat himself sworn in again as minister on Thursday, the tally of his former cabinet colleagues in the present BJP-led team has reached a majority, underlining the shifting loyalties that have reshaped Goa’s political landscape over the past decade.
Reacting to the development, Goa Forward Party chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai launched a sharp attack on the BJP, remarking that the party’s original workers, who had fought hard in the 2012 elections to dislodge the Kamat-led Congress government, “should now politically rest in peace.”
