PANAJI: The Goa Investment Promotion Board (IPB) has given the green light to seven new business proposals projected to generate around 1,500 employment opportunities in the state.
At its recent meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the IPB reviewed 12 proposals and approved seven of them while referring four others back for revisions or further clarification. One proposal was withdrawn by the applicant.
Officials said the approved projects span multiple sectors, including manufacturing, hospitality, logistics, and packaging. Among the notable clearances was a high-end eco-tourism resort planned in South Goa, as well as two manufacturing facilities in Pissurlem Industrial Estate, Sattari.
The meeting also saw approval for a packaging unit in Cuncolim Industrial Estate and a logistics hub in Verna.
Chief Minister Sawant emphasized that the cleared projects would not only boost local employment but also contribute to balanced regional development. He urged promoters to ensure timely execution, while the IPB agreed to streamline approval procedures to avoid delays.
IPB CEO and Secretary for Industries Swetika Sachan noted that most of the approved ventures had committed to employing local Goans as a priority.
The board’s focus, officials added, remains on attracting investment that aligns with sustainable development goals while delivering tangible economic benefits to local communities.
