PANAJI: The weekend witnessed seven rescues by Drishti’s lifesavers, three of which were from Calangute. There were also double rescues in Calangute and Ashwem.
Three persons were rescued at Calangute over the weekend. This included three males in their 20s. Two hailed from Karnataka while one was from Hyderabad.
The double rescue at Ashwem involved two males, both from Anjuna aged 33, who were caught in a rip current. The lifesaver rushed into the water and rescued both the victims.
Subsequently, there was also a double rescue in Dudhsagar where two males who slipped off rocks had to be retrieved via a rescue tube.
Meanwhile, the lifesaving team posted at Betalbatim beach joined over 200 volunteers who participated in a beach cleanliness drive organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra sangthan, Ministry of youth & sports Affairs Govt of India.
