Residents of Curti’s Prabhu Nagar filed a complaint at the Ponda Police Station on Sunday in an attempt to find out why their neighbourhood is experiencing a water shortage, as there is currently no apparent remedy to the problem. The water issue throughout the summer has severely impacted Prabhu Nagar, according to the locals. “The government has a responsibility to supply us with safe drinking water,” the residents, who were joined by Dr. Ketan Bhatikar, stated. We are forced to use packaged water for drinking during student examinations, and we also have to rent tankers for cooking and other uses. We are occasionally compelled to use the public lavatory at the bus stop and must rely on others to provide for our daily water needs.
At his home in Sankhali, the villagers later met with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who gave them his word that the issue would be resolved by Monday. Recall that during their demonstration at the PWD office in Daag-Ponda, the locals gheraoed PWD AE Kashinath Saraf and threatened to hold a rasta roko if the water supply was not restored. For a while, the supply was restored, but the issue persisted. Due to the local water shortage, Bethora residents also marched to the PWD headquarters.
