PANAJI: Hours after his statement that SFX DNA is present in all Goans sparked debate, Minister tendered an apology maintaining that what he meant was that peace, harmony and brotherhood runs in every Goans.
In a shocking act, BJP Goa Spokesperson Giriraj Pai Vernekar condemned the statement of his own party minister Aleixo Sequeira claiming that he had no right to make such a controversial statement.
BJP Goa spokesman Giriraj Pai Vernekar was reacting to Minister Aleixo Sequeira’s media statement wherein he had said that the DNA of St Francis Xavier is in every Goan.
Vernekar said that his statement is issued in his personal capacity while stating that Sequeira has no right to speak about others’ beliefs.
“Sequeira has no right to make such a controversial statement, he said.
Vernekar also clarified that the statement is in an individual capacity but represents the sentiments of many fellow Goan Hindus and karyakartas.
Soon after Pai Vernekar’s video message, Min Sequeira said that he meant to say that the quality of peace, harmony, secularism and brotherhood runs in every Goan.
“I humbly request my fellow Goans not to misconstrue my statement and should I have hurt anybody, I would like to apologize to them. I once again repeat, what I meant was that quality of peace, harmony, secularism and brotherhood runs in each and every Goan,” Sequeira.
