MARGAO: The South Goa District Mineral Foundation (SGDMF) has rolled out a series of major initiatives aimed at strengthening disaster response mechanisms and improving community welfare across the mining-affected talukas of Sanguem, Quepem, Dharbandora, and Ponda.
The programmes were officially inaugurated and flagged off today in Margao by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.
As part of its upgraded disaster management support, SGDMF has deployed two Tata Yodha 4×4 vehicles dedicated to emergency response across the region. In addition, two hearse vans have been provided to address a longstanding necessity for reliable and dignified transport of deceased persons in rural and remote belts.
In a significant step towards inclusion, SGDMF also distributed Assistive Adaptive Non-Geared Scooters to three persons with disabilities — Ms. Geeta Masurkar, Shri Birappa Kagi, and Shri Pandurang Tate — enabling improved mobility, independence, and overall quality of life for the beneficiaries.
These initiatives reinforce SGDMF’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and strengthening essential services in mining-affected areas.
