PANAJI: : Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in Goa on October 4 to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several major projects, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant announced on Tuesday.
During his visit, Shah will virtually inaugurate the new Goa Dental College building and the Smart City stadium at Campal. He will also lay foundation stones for major NBCC projects, including the redevelopment of Junta House and the Prashasan Stambh complex.
One of the highlights of the visit will be the formal launch of the Mhaje Ghar scheme, under which Goan families will be granted Class I ownership rights for houses built on government and Communidade land. The scheme is aimed at resolving decades of uncertainty for thousands of households lacking valid ownership papers.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also informed that the Goa Cabinet has approved the sanctioning of 28 new posts in the Department for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, a step aimed at strengthening the department’s functioning and improving services for individuals with disabilities.
The upcoming visit of the Union Home Minister is being seen as a major push for infrastructure and social welfare initiatives in the state.
