Believe it or not, in the last 11 days of Ganesh festival, 59 people have lost their lives while 4522 new cases have been registered in the State.
While 4522 new cases were reported 4310 recoveries were also reported.
In the last 11-days, COVID19 cases breached the 500-mark thrice – on August 28, 29 and September 1.
The sudden surge in the last few days seems to have put the State’s preparedness to shame even as the authorities are running from pillar to post to increase the number of wards in Goa Medical College.
The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s statement was criticized by the Opposition but when he said that the people did not follow norms of social distancing and wearing of masks were very much true.
However, while saying that the Chief Minister must also tell what did the State government do to see that there was no violation of guidelines? Why there were no fines for violating the norms? Why the police were not strict enough during Ganesh festival if at all there were violations?
Merely blaming people would not help. First of all, the State government delayed in announcing the SOPs, which came just more than 10 days ahead of the festival.
While all this is being discussed we need to understand that 59 lives have been lost, who is responsible for their deaths? Simply blaming co-morbidities would not help and also simply buying machines and equipments would also not help unless and until experts are involved?
If lives of VIPs like Clafasio Dias and Shripad Naik can be saved, why not of common man Mr Pramod Sawant?
Stop POLITICS and let the EXPERTS handle the situation…
