PANAJI: Disability Rights Association of Goa (DRAG) has demanded immediate shifting program on December 13 to a new venue which is accessible to Persons With Disability (PwD).
“We have received information that the Commission is organizing a programme on 13th December 2024 in association with GOACAN in the Commissions office to celebrate the International Human Rights Day,” DRAG President Avelino D’sa said
You are aware that the Commissions Office is not accessible for persons with disability and the elderly and in violation of Sections 3 and 40 of the Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016.
“We are shocked to note that the Commission will be violating the Human Rights of Persons with Disability in their programme to celebrate the International Human Rights Day when they are mandated to protect them,” he added
DRAG has demanded immediate shifting of the venue of your International Human Rights Day programme on 13th December 2024 to a venue accessible for persons with disability and the elderly failing which we will be forced to protest outside your office on the day of your programme.
“We also demand sign language interpreter for the programme. We also demand shifting of the office of the Commission to a place accessible to persons with disability and the elderly within 3 months of this letter.” DRAG said
