BICHOLIM: The Shirgao Temple Committee has stated that it is yet to receive a copy of the Fact-Finding Committee report on the tragic stampede that occurred during the Lairai Devi Jatra.
Committee President Dinanath Gaonkar said that the committee will review the report in consultation with the temple authorities and Mahajans before issuing a formal response.
“We have not yet received a copy of the report. Once we do, we will discuss it with the temple committee and the Mahajans, and only then will we respond,” Gaonkar said.
He also refuted allegations of non-cooperation with the authorities. “We have fully cooperated with the District Administration and the District Police Force. The claim that we have not cooperated is false,” he added.
The stampede during the annual Jatra had raised serious safety concerns, prompting an official inquiry by the state government.
