PONDA: Shivaji Fort, located at Farmagudi it lost its existence in overgrown bushes and trees.
Ministers and MLAs pass throughout this National Highway; however, nobody seems to notice the bushes and trees overgrown in the area.
Located by the NH roadside in front of Ganpati Temple and former CM Bahusaheb Bandodkar half size statue, the Shivaji Fort is an attraction for tourists entering the State of Goa; however, tourists are missing the view of the fort with horse riding King Shivaji with the sword.
Vinod Poole, the local of Bandora, said the Government should well maintain the Fort. The State Government every year celebrates Maratha King Shivaji’s birth anniversary.
During every Shiv Jayanti celebration government promises to renovate Shivaji Fort; however, so far, no Muhuraat has been found for the same.
In past years age old walls of Shivaji Fort collapsed in rain reason, and though they are repaired according to locals proper maintenance of the Fort should be done. Former Chief Minister Shashikala Kakodkar constructed the Fort during her tenure.
