CANACONA – Stating government should have taken the decision much earlier, but expressing satisfaction that government is the first time ever observing Shivrajya Abhishek Din, Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar congratulated the government of Dr Pramod Sawant finally celebrating the day officially.
“Sometimes, we have so many good things in our mind, but we tend to forget them due to other reasons. In future, this day will be celebrated even with much more vigour because Shivaji Maharaj himself is an inspiration to all of us”, Tawadkar said.
Canacona Dy Collector Ramesh Gaonkar, in his welcome speech, said, “Once his Rajya Abhishek took place, Shivaji Maharaj tried to give the best of justice to all the people, and he went on to become an Ideal king of all times. And If we happen to take his style of functioning to the people and the society, there won’t be much delay to establish Shivaji’s kingdom to the present generation.”
Earlier, Tawadkar and Gaonkar garlanded the statue of Shivaji set up in a complex compound in the presence of Canacona Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar, BDO Anil Naik, Dr Diwakarji Velip and most of the government staff.
Dy Collector appreciated the staff’s presence at short notice, stating that the decision to celebrate the day had come a bit late and that most attended the function at short notice.
Earlier in the day, the bust of Shivaji Maharaj was garlanded by the principal Dr Manoj Kamat, in the presence of staff and others at Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Delem.
