Team Goemkarponn
MAPUSA: Shobha Pradeep Padgaonkar, a resident of Salgaon–Bardez and a dedicated primary section teacher of Saraswat Vidyalaya, Mapusa, was felicitated on the occasion of her retirement on January 31, 2026. The felicitation was held at the school premises and was conducted by Amogh Prabhu-Parrikar, Treasurer of Saraswat Shikshan Sanstha.
Principal Swapnita Nagvekar, Primary Section Supervisor Seema Sinai-Lotlikar, along with Uma Varerkar, Anagha Apte and Purva Kelkar were present for the programme and lauded her decades-long contribution to the institution.
Shobha Padgaonkar (née Shobha Janardan Naik) completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa. She joined Saraswat Vidyalaya on September 15, 1989, as a primary teacher and went on to complete her B.Ed. from Annamalai University in 1993. She also successfully completed a six-month Konkani Sanad course conducted by the Konkani Bhasha Mandal and voluntarily taught Konkani to students from Class VII to Class X for four years.
Apart from her teaching career, she served as a director of the Saraswat Vidyalaya Credit Society for three years and actively participated in several workshops and training programmes related to education. She also represented her school in women’s sports competitions organised by the Bardez Taluka Sports Festival Committee under the aegis of the Sports Authority of Goa, winning multiple awards over the years.
Demonstrating her commitment to holistic education, she took the initiative to create a vegetable garden on the school campus to support the gardening component introduced under the New Education Policy.
Shobha Padgaonkar is also well known for her artistic pursuits. She acted in more than 100 episodes of the serial ‘Lokshay Haay Haay’ aired on Prudent Channel and later appeared in 17 episodes of ‘Chinta Goykara’ on the Goakarpon channel. She has performed in several amateur and competitive dramas as well as films. In addition, she nurtures a unique passion for cooking.
The management, staff and students of Saraswat Vidyalaya wished her a healthy, fulfilling and creative retired life.
