MANDREM: A Ugandan national has been charged by the Mandrem police for allegedly biting a female police constable while she was on duty.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon at Malpem, Pernem, while the foreigner was being escorted by two female constables from the Central Jail, Colvale, to the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Pernem.
The police claimed that while doing their duty of accompanying the complainant, Ugandan national Shinah Esterh intentionally attacked her by biting her right hand and injuring another land policeman of the Mandrem police station with scratches.
On October 5, Esterh was taken into custody by the authorities on an allegation of overstaying his visa. He was discovered to be residing unlawfully without a valid travel document—a passport or visa—in a leased room in Arambol.
