PONDA: Four men have been booked by Ponda Police for allegedly breaking into a shop at Shiroda, stealing grocery items, and later setting the premises on fire, causing damages estimated at ₹20–25 lakh.
Police said the incident took place in the early hours of September 8, before 5 a.m., at an open space near the Panchayat building, Shiroda. The accused have been identified as Mohit Kumar, Rohit Khare, Sagar Kumar, and Mahesh Shetty, all residents of Shiroda.
According to the complaint lodged by Amisha Naik of Shiroda, the accused forcibly entered her shop by breaking open the rear door, stole grocery articles, and then set the remaining stock, furniture, and fittings ablaze, reducing them to ashes.
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Chetan Naik of Ponda Police Station.
