MARGAO: A shop owner from Chandor has been booked for alleged illegal slaughter after officials discovered a freshly cut head, suspected to be of a cow, at his meat shop in Navelim.
The offence was registered based on a complaint filed by Raj Pratik, DSCPA Officer attached to the Office of the Collector (South). According to the complaint, on November 17, 2025, the accused — Yakub Bepari, a resident of Culsabhat, Chandor — had allegedly slaughtered the animal illegally and kept the freshly cut head at his outlet, Bismillah Beef Centre, located at Mandopa, Navelim.
Police said the act amounted to an offence under relevant provisions of law. Bepari was placed under arrest and later released on bail.
Further investigation is being conducted by LPSI Aanushka Parab of Margao Town Police Station.
