PANAJI: The Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, has directed all its autonomous cultural institutions to play the short version of ‘Vande Mataram’ at the commencement of every programme, show, or event as part of the ongoing 150th-year celebrations of the national song.
In a circular issued to Ravindra Bhavans across the state, Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir (Ponda), Kala Academy (Panaji), and Tiatr Academy of Goa, the department instructed that the first two verses of ‘Vande Mataram’, as officially adopted, should be played before every event organized by the respective institutions.
The directive will be observed for one year, up to November 7, 2026, and emphasizes maintaining due respect and decorum befitting the national song.
Director of Art and Culture Vivek K. Naik has requested all concerned to ensure strict compliance with the instructions in both letter and spirit.
