Canacona: Shree Balram Higher Secondary School at Ardhafond, Poinguinim in Canacona has received a new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Laboratory set up under the MPLAD funds of South Goa Member of Parliament Capt. Viriato Fernandes.
The ICT lab was inaugurated by MP Fernandes in the presence of Minister for Sports, Tribal Welfare, and Art & Culture and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar at the school on Saturday.
The facility has been established with the support of the Government of India’s MPLAD funds with the aim of strengthening digital learning and providing students access to modern technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Fernandes said the ICT lab will help students enhance their computer knowledge, digital skills and overall academic development. He emphasised the importance of integrating technology into education and stated that such initiatives will help students prepare for the rapidly evolving digital world.
Fernandes also highlighted the need to provide quality educational infrastructure to students, particularly in rural areas.
Minister Tawadkar, along with the management and staff of the Shree Balram Education Society, thanked the MP for supporting the establishment of the ICT laboratory through MPLAD funds and contributing towards the advancement of digital education for students.
The programme was attended by Headmistress of Shree Balram Residential High School and Sarpanch of VP Poinguinim Savita Tawadkar, executive members of Shree Balram Education Society, teacher-in-charge of Shree Balram Higher Secondary School Kavita Gaonkar, PTA chairman Prabhakar Gaonkar, VP Poinguinim member and ward panch Mahesh Naik, former Agonda Sarpanch and Congress Block (Canacona) president Abel Borges, Congress leader Mahadev Desai, Congress South District General Secretary (Org) Gaspar Coutinho, along with teachers, non-teaching staff and students.
