New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the winners of its annual awards for the 2024 to 2025 season, recognising outstanding performances across international and domestic cricket.
Indian batter Shubman Gill has been named the Best International Cricketer in the men’s category, receiving the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award. Gill amassed 1,565 runs in 25 international matches during the season, including six centuries. His tally featured 991 runs in Test cricket from 10 matches, along with 447 runs in eight One Day Internationals and 127 runs in seven T20 internationals.
In the women’s category, Smriti Mandhana was awarded the Best International Cricketer honour after an exceptional year with the bat. She scored 1,800 runs in 36 international matches, including seven centuries, six in One Day Internationals and one in T20 internationals.
Fast bowler Harshit Rana received the Best International Debut award in the men’s category following impressive performances across all three formats of the game. On his Test debut against Australia in Perth, he claimed three wickets, while he also took three wickets each in his ODI debut against England in Nagpur and his T20 international debut in Pune.
In the women’s category, N Sree Charani was named Best International Debut for her remarkable T20 international debut against England in Nottingham, where she produced a match winning spell of four wickets for 12 runs.
Among domestic performers, Shafali Verma won the Jagmohan Dalmiya Trophy for Best Senior Women’s Domestic Cricketer after scoring 527 runs in seven matches and also contributing with eight wickets. Mumbai’s Ira Jadhav secured the junior women’s award following a prolific season in the under 19 tournaments.
The Lifetime Achievement Award named after Col. C. K. Nayudu will be presented to former India cricketer Roger Binny and legendary batter and former head coach Rahul Dravid. Meanwhile, former India captain Mithali Raj will receive the BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award for women.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on March 15, celebrating the achievements of India’s top cricketing talents over the past season.
