PANAJI: Competitive matches marked another day of action at the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open 2026 as several players secured places in the semi finals across multiple categories.
In the men’s open singles quarter finals, Siddharth Nunes produced a dominant performance to defeat Punit Fadte 6-0 and move into the last four. Akhil Shirwaikar also advanced after registering a convincing 6-2 victory against Cherian Joseph. Rushil Anikar progressed comfortably with a 6-1 win over Santosh.
The mixed open doubles category saw two pairs booking their semi final spots with impressive victories. Siddharth Nunes partnered with Aishwarya Nunes to defeat Neale Fernandes and Raisa Menezes 6-1. In another quarter final, Sreenath and Tanya Shelyazhynska Caldeira cruised to a 6-0 win over Debayan Das and Tomoyo Fujita.
In the boys under 12 singles semi finals, Arsh Sardesai delivered a solid performance to defeat Ivan Henriques 4-2, 4-1 and advance further in the competition. Christian Shawn Fernandes edged past Ethan Luis De Ataide in a closely fought encounter that ended 4-2, 0-4, 10-8.
The girls under 18 singles semi finals also witnessed convincing wins. Tithee Bhoomkar overcame Avni Lotlikar 4-1, 4-1 while Tvisha Sardesai secured a comfortable 4-1, 4-0 victory against Bhaavya Bhoomkar.
Meanwhile in the men’s open doubles matches, Siddharth Nunes and Arup Angle recorded a comprehensive 6-0 win over Rihan Colaco and Shubert Colaco. Mano Chhabra and Neale Fernandes progressed after their opponents Sanjay Shinde and Tanmaie Shinde retired from the match. Shaurya Awasthi and Rushil Anikar defeated Ganesh Vernekar and Bhalchandra Gaitonde 6-2, while Rajaram Paiginkar and Kyan Mavany edged past James Stewart and Satya Stewart 7-5. Noel Noronha and Raju Kundaikar also registered a comfortable 6-0 win over Harry Dhanoa and Taksh Parekh. Prince Agnelo Joven De Silva and Nishad Shevde advanced with a 6-2 victory against Rehaan Díaz and Prajat Halankar.
In the men’s 45 plus doubles semi final, Anurag Agrawal and Jai Gill secured a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mano Chhabra and Suraj Pombra to move ahead in the tournament.
The ladies open singles category saw Tanya defeat Nataliia Lazurenko 6-0, while Poojal Somu Naik overcame Tomoyo Fujita 6-3.
The tournament honours the legacy of Dayanand Bandodkar and continues in Panaji with around 247 players competing across various categories.
