PANAJI: Congress leader Sunil Khawtankar today was questioned for nearly 2 hour by Old Goa police in connection to the viral video of Suleiman @Siddique Khan released by Congress on Sunday night.
A notice under section 179 of BNSS has been issued to Kauthankar by Old Goa Police station.
After coming out of the police station, Kavthankar said he will extend all possible co-operation to the police in the matter. He also alleged that he was summoned despite being ready to co-operate in all manners as govt wants to target the opposition.
“The Crime Branch questioned me as to how i got the video and when did AAP leader Amit Palekar call me regarding the video. I have given my detailed statement to the officials, I have nothing to hide,” said Khawthankar
He further said that he was soldier of Rahul Gandhi and the entire opposition is in my support.
“We are not scared, everything is transperant. It is clear cut case,” he added
Explaining further, Kawthankar said that he saw the pen drive containing three videos of accused Siddiqui Suleman Khan who was escaped from Police Custody and accordingly, informed over phone to Adv. Amit Palekar about the video.
“Thereafter I called DGP of Goa and informed about the videos of accused Siddiqui Suleman Khan,” he added
Accordingly, Kawthankar said that he received call from DIG, Goa Sharma and told him that she wants that pen drive containing the videos of accused Siddiqui Suleman Khan to which I told her to send police staff to my residence in order to collect pen drive containing videos of accused Siddiqui Suleman Khan.
“I say that I waited till 23:00 hrs but no any Police staff appeared at my residence at Porvorim. Accordingly, I called back DIG Sharma and informed her to send police staff tomorrow i.e. on 16.12.2024 at my house,” he addded
