BAINA: The Baina Khapreshwar Saunsthan committee offered a newly crafted silver turban (feto) weighing 2.170 kg and valued at around ₹5.5 lakh to Dev Khapreshwar, a day ahead of the 30th Vardhapan Diwas celebrations scheduled on Friday.
The offering was made under the leadership of committee president Pramod Desai. After completing the prescribed religious rituals and pooja, the silver turban was ceremoniously placed on the idol of Lord Khapreshwar at the temple in Baina. The occasion was witnessed by committee members, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, municipal councillor Deepak Naik, and a large number of devotees and local residents.
Earlier in the morning, the silver turban was formally taken into custody by Desai from a jeweller in Baina. It was then carried to the Khapreshwar temple in a decorated rickshaw, with several women devotees performing a traditional dindi procession ahead of the vehicle, adding to the devotional fervour.
Speaking on the occasion, Desai said the offering was a special gesture to mark the milestone year of the temple celebrations. “Khapreshwar Saunsthan is celebrating its 30th Vardhapan Diwas on Friday, and the committee decided to offer a silver turban to the lord as part of the celebrations. Over the next five days, we have planned a series of grand cultural and religious programmes, including pooja and mahaprasad,” he said.
He further pointed out the uniqueness of the offering. “This is the first time a turban has been placed on an idol here. Traditionally, devotees offer a mukut or crown, but this silver feto is a distinct and symbolic offering,” Desai said.
Appealing to the public, he urged devotees to participate in the programmes organised during the Vardhapan Diwas celebrations and seek the blessings of Dev Khapreshwar.
