SIOLIM: Siolim-Sodiem Panchayat has issued a directive requiring all pet dog owners in the village to register their dogs with the panchayat authorities. The decision follows a recent dog attack incident in Anjuna and aims to enhance public safety and control rabies.
In a public notice, sarpanch Deepa Pednekar stated that specific breeds — including American XL Bully, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Pitbull Terrier, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Roorkee, and any cross-breeds of these — must be registered without fail.
Pednekar also appealed to all dog owners in Sodiem to vaccinate their pets and cooperate with the administration in efforts to eliminate rabies from Goa.
Deputy sarpanch Nilesh Vaigankar emphasized that the registration drive is a precautionary measure.
“We have asked owners of these listed breeds to act responsibly and ensure their pets do not pose a threat to any person or animal. In case of any incident, legal action will be taken against the owner,” Vaigankar warned.
