SANCOALE: Verna Police have booked a site engineer in connection with the death of a labourer who fell from the third floor of an under-construction building at MVR Homes, Sancoale, on November 3, injuring a minor girl below.
Police said the accused, Avinash Magadum, site engineer and resident of Vidhyanagar, Sancoale (native of Belagavi, Karnataka), allegedly exposed labourers to danger by allowing work to continue at the site without safety measures.
As a result of this negligence, labourer Tabrej Alam, a native of Bihar residing at Goa Velha, slipped and fell from a height of about 12 metres, landing on a minor girl who was bathing on the ground floor. Alam succumbed to his injuries, while the girl sustained multiple injuries and is undergoing treatment at GMC, Bambolim.
Following the incident, Verna Police registered an offence against Magadum under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Pramila Fernandes.
