PANAJI: Goa Police have arrested six individuals from Maharashtra and Odisha in connection with the violent dacoity at a seventh-floor flat in Chamundi Arcade, Baina, Vasco, which occurred on November 18, DGP Alok Kumar informed. A seventh accused is still at large, and the search for him continues.
Investigations revealed that one of the accused, who had previously worked at the Nayak family’s shop, played a key role in planning the crime using insider information.
The family estimated their loss, including gold, silver, and cash, at around ₹35 lakh. Police have successfully recovered the stolen items, and all arrested suspects have been brought to Goa for further questioning.
In a related case, 33-year-old Lokesh Sutar, previously involved in the Ubo Dando, St Cruz ₹25 lakh robbery, was arrested from Maharashtra. Police said he had purchased a car using the proceeds and is linked to over 25 criminal cases across Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
Additionally, Panaji Police arrested 27-year-old Babu Bhagat for stealing six bikes in and around the city, all of which were recovered.
Regarding the Saligao double murder case, DGP Alok Kumar stated that investigators have identified a suspect who had visited Goa four days prior to committing the crime, and further leads are being pursued.
DGP Kumar emphasized that, in response to recent robberies, police are strengthening surveillance, stepping up nakabandis, closely monitoring criminal movements, and encouraging community vigilance along with public awareness initiatives.
