CANACONA: Canacona Police have registered a case against sixteen persons for allegedly forming an unlawful assembly and assaulting two villagers during an altercation at Shristhal on Monday evening.
The case, registered under Canacona Police Station Crime No. 45/2025, invokes Sections 115(2), 118(1), 352, 189(2), 191(2), and 191(3) read with Section 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
According to the complaint filed by Chandrashekhar Velip of Shristhal, the incident occurred at around 6:45 p.m. on October 13, 2025, near Shristhal Panchayat, when the accused persons — identified as Shanu, Akshata, Pallavi, Gautami, Netra, Vithoba, Dilip, Vandana, Nitesh, Nilesh, Kavita, Nali, Kushali, Suralaksha, Laxman, Deepa Velip, and others — allegedly abused and assaulted the complainant’s father Kusta Velip and another person Bhisso Velip.
Police said the group, acting with a common object, attacked the victims with slaps, fist blows, wooden sticks, and a metal lock, causing them injuries.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Ramdas Doifode of Canacona Police Station.
