Collem: Skeletal remains believed to be of an elderly woman reported missing since November 2025 were found in a thick forest area near Kumbarwada, Sancordem in Dharbandora, police said.
According to police, at around 8.01 pm on January 3, a phone call was received from Ulhas Vadkar, a resident of Sancordem, Dharbandora, informing that skeletal bones were found in a dense forest near Kumbarwada, Sacorda. Police rushed to the spot and during inquiry found skeletal remains including a skull, four long bones and other smaller bones, which appeared to be of a human being.
Police also recovered a saree, a blouse and a wooden stick from the spot. These articles were identified by Ulhas Vadkar as belonging to his mother, Lilavati Vadkar (85), a resident of H. Kumbharwada, Sancordem, Dharbandora, who had been missing since November 16, 2025. A missing person report in this regard had earlier been registered at Collem Police Station.
Police conducted a scene of occurrence panchanama under Unnatural Death (UD) provisions, and all skeletal remains were carefully collected and sent to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for preservation and further medico-legal formalities.
