PANAJI: Reacting to the Smart City Works and traffic chaos in the capital city, the Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate today said that citizens would have to bear with the inconvenience for some time to get good facilities in the coming days.
“Different agencies and People undertaking work will have to bear with the inconvenience for some time as they will get good facilities. Again and again, this same question is being asked to me, it’s as if like I am digging the road, the engineers are present at the site,” said Monserrate.
He further said that another set of review meetings would be held to review the works, and if anything was wrong, the contractor would be held responsible.
“CM Sawant will convey a review meeting. Works are currently going on time, where the works are stopped. CS is the chairman of the smart city. These people are responsible,” he added.
He also said people should have some patience if they want a more “progressed” Panaji city.
Landscaping, intersection redesign and plazas are part of the initiative.
Also, four major roads in the capital city, including the one from the Old Patto bridge to the Four Pillars junction running parallel to the Rua de Ourem creek, have been tendered for development as smart roads.
Another major road tendered for development as a smart road is the 3.7-kilometre-long stretch at St Inez.
The IPSCDL projects are being executed through the GSIDC, GSUDA, PWD and the Electricity Department, Monserrate said
