India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana has moved up to the second position in the latest ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings following her standout performance in the recently concluded Tri-Nation series in Sri Lanka. Mandhana, who last held the top spot in 2019, played a crucial role in India’s title-winning campaign, scoring 264 runs in five innings and finishing as the tournament’s second-highest run-getter.
Her match-winning knock of 116 off 101 balls in the final against Sri Lanka further boosted her ranking. She now trails top-ranked Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa by just 11 rating points. Wolvaardt had a modest outing in the Tri-Series, managing only 86 runs.
Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu also moved up the ladder, climbing two places to seventh after contributing 139 runs for her side. Among other notable movers, Jemimah Rodrigues rose five places to 15th, while South Africa’s Chloe Tryon jumped nine spots to 18th.
In the bowling rankings, India’s Sneh Rana made a significant leap, moving up four places to 34th after being named Player of the Series. Rana claimed 15 wickets in the tournament at an impressive average of 14. England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to hold the top spot among bowlers, while South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk rose one place to 24th.
In the all-rounders’ category, Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner retained her number one position. India’s Deepti Sharma climbed to fifth place following her strong performances in Sri Lanka. Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk also made gains, moving to 11th and 12th places respectively.
