Anjuna: A 40-year-old software engineer from Telangana was found dead in his room at a hotel in Anjuna night. Police have ruled out foul play and registered an Unnatural Death (U.D.) case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS).
According to Anjuna Police, a PCR call was received at around 10:00 PM, reporting that a man was found lying unresponsive in Room No. 208 of Villa Anjuna, near Starco Junction. A police team rushed to the spot and identified the deceased as Vamshi Bharath Rangineni, son of Gopal Rao Rangineni, a resident of Gayatri Nagar, Jeedimetla, Telangana. Medical officers from St. Anthony Hospital later confirmed his death.
Initial inquiries with hotel staff revealed that around 9:40 PM, one of the employees went to deliver a phone to the deceased on his father’s request. Upon entering the room, he found Vamshi lying unconscious near the bed. The staff immediately alerted the police.
Further inquiry with the deceased’s family indicated that Vamshi had been emotionally disturbed following a divorce four years ago. He is survived by a son aged around 10, who lives with his grandparents. Vamshi worked as a software engineer for a company named Dolittle, mostly working from home with occasional visits to the office.
A panchanama was conducted at the scene and the body has been sent to GMC Bambolim for preservation. Anjuna Police confirmed that no signs of foul play were found at the scene. PSI Saish Shetgaonkar is leading the ongoing inquiry.
