PANAJI: A one-day symposium on “Essential Newborn Care,” a midwives’ initiative, will be held on December 20 at Sub-District Hospital in Ponda by the Society of Midwives India (SOMI), Goa unit, in partnership with the National SOMI.
While praising the SOMI Goa unit’s members for their initiative, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane encouraged midwives, nurses, and all Goan citizens who are concerned to get involved in big numbers. In Goa, there are 6000 registered midwives.
He underlined that such programs will help midwives in particular as well as the community at large. Rane reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering support for programs that advance the wellbeing of society.
