Sonic wins basketball tourney

PANAJI: Sonics, Porvorim defeated Lourdes Basketeers, Saligao, to emerge winners at All Goa 3on3 Basketball tournament, organised by Antruz Art Sports Academy in memory of Late Rajesh Kunkalekar at Almeida High school basketball court Ponda Goa.
The tournament was played in collaboration with Almeida High school & recognised by the sports authority of the Goa & Goa basketball association.
Sonics defeated Lourdes Basketeers by 17/14 points.
Shubham Singh of Lourdes was adjusted as an upcoming player of the tournament, whereas Shawn Araujo was declared the best tournament player.
Bhaskar Khandeparkar, Chairman, G.V.M’s group of Institutions was the chief guest, Major Ghanshyam Singh(retired) was the special guest in the presence of Shawn Rodrigues, Technical Incharge, Naresh Gaunekar, Shamba Dessai Sachin Sukhathankar, President, AASA, and others were present for the closing ceremony and distributed prizes to the winners.
Naresh Gaunekar & Shambha Dessai were felicitated by Antruz Art & sports academy for their valuable contribution in Sports Journalism and Education & youth development at the hands of the chief guest.
Total of 20 teams participated in the tournament, which was played on a league cum knock-out basis.
All the successful teams were awarded cash prizes plus trophies..
