MARGAO: South Goa Collector Asvin Chandru (IAS) has issued a directive aimed at stricter compliance measures in response to concerns raised by the South Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) regarding the growing trend of visitors using fake aliases and addresses when seeking accommodations.
Comprehensive tenant verification processes are mandated by the order, and landlords and hotel owners are required to enter pertinent guest information into the police’s PATHIK (Programme for Analysis of Travelers and Hotel Informatics) software.
The collector addressed the difficulties law enforcement has in identifying offenders as a result of false information submitted by visitors, stressing the need for landlords and hotel operators to closely monitor and confirm the veracity of visitor data and the significance of precisely entering such information in the official police database.
“Police have informed us that they are having trouble identifying the guilty parties because the information they have given to the hotel and landlord owners has been discovered to be false and fabricated. Additionally, it was reported that hotel owners and landlords rented out their spaces without first confirming the tenant’s background, according to Chandru.
In addition, the collector asked hotel owners and landlords in South Goa to assist law enforcement and other authorities with inspections when needed to guarantee that the established verification procedures are followed.
Additionally, the Collector directed national banks operating in the district to incorporate continuous security surveillance at their ATMs, including the deployment of extra security guards and the installation of CCTVs.
