Margao: South Goa District Magistrate Egna Cletus, IAS, convened a meeting to assess the law and order scenario in the district and instructed police and revenue officials to enforce strict penalties against those violating the ban on entering waterfalls and abandoned stone quarries.
Officials reviewed the current situation, including preparations for the upcoming Saptah festival in Vasco and Independence Day events, emphasizing the need for enhanced security and crowd control.
Following the meeting, the District Magistrate informed the press that two FIRs have been registered against individuals who breached the prohibitory orders related to restricted areas near waterfalls and quarries. She also directed authorities to increase surveillance and patrols during weekends in these vulnerable spots to deter further violations.
The discussion further covered compliance with recent High Court orders concerning banner bullfights and the issue of illegal sand mining within the district, urging all departments to ensure adherence to the judicial mandates.
District Magistrate Egna Cletus stressed the importance of maintaining public safety and law enforcement throughout the district, especially at sensitive locations and during upcoming festivals.
