MARGAO: The South Goa Advocates Association has raised serious concerns about the acute shortage of judges in Margao’s courts.
Currently, six out of ten courts in the region are operating without appointed judges, resulting in a significant backlog of cases.
The lack of judicial officers has created a strain on the legal system, affecting both litigants and lawyers. Advocates have urged the Goa government and the higher judiciary to address the crisis and ensure timely appointments to these courts. This shortage has not only delayed justice but also stretched the capacity of the existing judicial staff, which is already overburdened.
The Association has pointed out that the situation in South Goa has worsened over the past few months, with several courtrooms left empty and cases piling up.
Lawyers have also expressed their frustration with the system, highlighting the impact on the daily functioning of legal proceedings and the growing public dissatisfaction.
The need for urgent action to appoint additional judges and restore order to the judicial process in Margao has become a matter of increasing urgency for the legal community and the public.
