PORVORIM: A social service project backed by Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar will construct homes for those impacted by the Wayanad, Kerala, landslide.
Tawadkar announced during Monday’s continuing monsoon session that 200 volunteers from his Balaram Charitable Trust will be working in Wayanad, Kerala, to build homes in the districts hit by landslides.
According to him, the residences will be built in accordance with the state’s present Shram Dham idea.
According to the Shram Dham concept, Balaram Charitable Trust uses crowdsourcing to build over 20 residences in Canacona taluka for impoverished families.
Tawadkar urged every member of the House to make a monetary donation to the Kerala project.
The House was informed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that Goa’s chief secretary has already communicated with his Keralan counterpart, letting him know that the former is prepared to offer all required assistance.
“We are prepared to assist them with all necessities, but we have not received a response from Kerala,” he stated.
