Panaji: The Home Department has announced a special registration window for children of recognised freedom fighters who wish to seek employment in government departments under an existing state scheme.
According to an official press note, the Scheme for Providing Employment in Government to the Children of Freedom Fighters, notified in 2013, allows eligible candidates whose parents are registered as freedom fighters with the department to be considered for government jobs through departmental sponsorship.
The department stated that several eligible applicants were unable to register when the scheme was first introduced in 2013 due to various reasons. In view of this, the government has decided to provide a final opportunity for such candidates to complete their registration.
The special registration facility will be open only to children of those freedom fighters who are already registered with the Home Department.
Eligible applicants can collect the application forms from the Home Department by producing the freedom fighter certificate of either parent. Forms will be issued from March 17 to March 31, 2026.
Applicants must submit the duly filled forms on or before April 6, 2026. The department has clarified that applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
