Panaji: Sporting Club Davorlim emerged victorious in commanding fashion as they defeated St Anthony’s Sports Club, Assolda, 4-1 in the final of the 19th Super Soccer Inter-Village Football Tournament. The tournament, organized by the United Club of Benaulim, was played at the St John de Baptista football ground in Benaulim. Davorlim dominated the match from start to finish, with their aggressive and coordinated play leaving little room for Assolda to recover.
The first goal came in the 15th minute when Assolda’s Samuel Peixoto, in an attempt to clear a shot by Milton Colaco, inadvertently put the ball into his own net. Just minutes later, Assolda had a clear chance to equalize, but Mark Revlon Fernandes missed the target. Sporting Davorlim doubled their lead in the 25th minute through Royston Colaco. The second half saw continued pressure from Davorlim, resulting in two more goals—one from Prince Figueredo and another from M. Ajay Raj in the 50th minute. Assolda managed to pull one back late in the game, with Richard Fernandes scoring a consolation goal.
