PANAJI: In a thrilling encounter at the Cuncolim ground, the Sporting Club of Davorlim edged past Cuncolim Union with a narrow 1-0 victory, advancing to the semifinals of the prestigious Vaidya Family Memorial Cup. The match was a testament to Davorlim’s resilient defense, which withstood intense pressure from Cuncolim throughout the game. Both teams had their share of missed opportunities in the first half, setting the stage for a tense second half where Davorlim’s defenders proved unbeatable.
The first half ended goalless, with Cuncolim’s Tushar Gaonkar and Viraj Velip squandering golden chances, while Davorlim’s Veliston Colaco also failed to find the target.
