PANAJI: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Friday released its first recruitment notice of the year, calling for applications to fill 390 teaching positions in government-run primary schools across the State. The recruitment drive includes 352 vacancies in Marathi-medium schools and 38 vacancies in Konkani-medium schools. Interested candidates can submit their applications until February 20.
As per the notification, the 352 posts earmarked for Marathi-medium schools include 158 open-category vacancies, 113 reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 42 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and four for Scheduled Tribes (ST). In addition, 35 posts are set aside for candidates from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), while 16 vacancies are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).
For Konkani-medium primary schools, the SSC intends to fill 38 positions. The category-wise breakup includes 15 posts for OBC candidates, four for EWS candidates, and eight reserved for PwD candidates.
The eligibility criteria specify that applicants must have completed a Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or an equivalent qualification, along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Diploma in Education, in line with prescribed norms. Candidates holding an HSSC with a minimum of 50 per cent marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or an equivalent qualification are also eligible. Those who have completed an HSSC and a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) degree may apply, subject to the regulations of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
In addition, applicants must have cleared a Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) recognised by the Government of Goa and possess at least two years of teaching experience in primary schools recognised by the Directorate of Education. Proficiency in Konkani is mandatory, while knowledge of Marathi will be considered an added advantage.
