CANACONA: St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda beats St. Anthony High School, Galgibaga by a solitary goal to win the Canacona Taluka – Level Championship of Subroto Cup for U-17 Girls for 2024-25.
Organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA), Canacona Taluka Subroto Cup (U-17 Girls) for 2024-25 Football matches were played at Karvem (Gaondongrim) sports complex.
After playing a goalless first half, the all-important goal is scored by Goal scoring machine Gwyneth Fernandes putting the ball across the goalkeeper of St. Anthony HS within minutes of the commencement of the second half to give a well-deserved win to the hardworking girls of St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda (1-0).
Incidentally, Gwyneth is the top scorer of the Canacona Taluka level Football Subroto Cup (U-17 Girls) 2024-25 Tournament with 11 Goals.
In the first round of St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda made a short work of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Mastimoll beat them hands down (6-0), then outsmarted GHS Gowal-Khola by 4-1 Goals in the second round match, with all the goals coming from the boots of Gwyneth Fernandes in both the qualifying matches also played at Karvem Grounds.
St. Anne’s Institute Agonda coached by their PE Teacher Angelo D’Silva now qualifies and will play for South-Zone level Subroto Cup matches, informed sources.
