PANAJI: Raia: St. Anthony SC Assolda secured a spot in the semifinals of the 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament with a convincing 3-1 victory over Carmona SC, in a match played at the Raia Panchayat Ground.
St. Anthony got off to a flying start, with Sunny Fernandes opening the scoring in the 6th minute. Carmona nearly responded moments later, but Edwin’s effort in the 10th minute went narrowly wide.
The second half saw St. Anthony extend their lead, as Fernandes struck again in the 47th minute, completing his brace. Just three minutes later, Alreach Piexito made it 3-0 with a clinical finish in the 50th minute.
Carmona SC managed to pull one back in the 56th minute, when Edwin Afonso successfully converted a penalty. However, the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Alreach Piexito of St. Anthony SC Assolda was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance and was presented with the award by Jerome Colaco.
