Betalbatim: In a nail-biting encounter at the Panchayat Ground in Betalbatim, St Rock YC Majorda edged out Parish Youth Nuvem 9-8 via tiebreaker to seal a spot in the quarterfinals of the 4th Betalbatim Villagers Cup.
The match witnessed an electrifying display of football in front of a packed crowd, with both teams locked at 4-4 at the end of regulation time. Parish Youth Nuvem opened the scoring through Francisco Colaco (7′), followed by goals from Albino Pereira (13′), Leroy Colaco (16′), and Joywin Costa (47′). St Rock YC Majorda responded strongly, with Ashley Rodrigues netting a brace in the 23rd and 42nd minutes, while Oscar Braganza added two more in the 24th and 55th minutes.
With no clear winner after full time, the match headed into a tense penalty shootout. St Rock YC Majorda held their nerve and proved to be the better side from the spot, winning 9-8.
For his outstanding performance and crucial goals, Oscar Braganza of St Rock YC Majorda was named Man of the Match. He received the award from Constancio Miranda, former headmaster of Betalbatim.
